My Life as a Third Wheel
There comes a time in every woman's life where she either follows the rest of the pack and gets hitched...or....defies (either willingly or unwillingly) the social norms and goes wandering off into the uncharted wilds of Spinstertopia!

Crazy Bitch!
One really shitty thing about being single and being a hopeless romantic is this- every flirtation is grossly overanalyzed! We are brainwashed by Hollywood to expect amazing gestures of romance, spontaneous love affairs and finding our soul mate at the grocery store. What a bunch of BS. The sad thing is, despite the fact we all know its fake, we still secretly hope that our love story will be worthy of some great "chick flick".
This is why flirtations can be so are dangerous, because when you mix high expectations with lonely single girls you get crazy. We are crazy bitches, and somewhere in our crazy minds, we think that every man we speak to or look at has potential to be "the one". Unfortunately for us crazy women, men are not nearly as crazy, and they have probably not even considered such wild and outrageous notions!
Take for instance, a phone call. Talking can mean something right? If you dedicate a lot of time talking to one person, chances are you will eventually want to meet that person, or get to know them better....But girls? Oh girls...... In 5 seconds we have already facebook stalked, found our mutual friends, phoned them at home during dinner with their 18 kids and significant other and grilled them on the goods. The guy has barely hung up the phone. He may be thinking "that was a nice conversation", but girls have already determined if he's marriage material. This is borderline psychotic and if I may say so, more than a little creepy...
That being said, I have fully accepted that I am a little creepy and have no shame admitting it. There's nothing wrong with a little detective work to make sure we arent getting involved with a serial killer. At least, thats the excuse I will use in trying to disguise the fact that I really am, just plain ol creepy.

A Sobering Realization
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So there it is: my life as it exists today. As a perpetually lonely, single 30 year old with no love life to speak of. Instead of seeking one out, I have resigned to the calm and comfortable confines of my own daily routines. I have traded in late nights at the bar for early evenings at a girlfriends house with her 18 children, or her significant other; I have become the cliche of all cheesy romance movies. The single, crazy friend who can't quite seem to get it all together and build a life entirely her own. I have become the girl I never thought I would be; I have become the "third wheel"....dun dun dun...
